South of JFK/UMass it splits into two branches terminating at Braintree or Ashmont stations. At Ashmont passengers may continue via the Ashmont-Mattapan High Speed Line, a light rail line. Regular fare is $2.10 when using a CharlieCard or $2.65 using cash or a CharlieTicket. Exit fares on the Braintree extension were discontinued in 2007.
